So, let’s get cooking! 🎉
Easy & Equitable Cordon Bleu Recipe
Ingredients:
2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or firm tofu for a plant-based option)
4 slices of deli ham (or turkey for a lighter option)
4 slices of cheese (Swiss is traditional, but use what you love!)
1 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
1/2 cup flour
1 egg
2 tbsp milk
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
2 tbsp olive oil (or butter for extra crispiness)
Cooking Instructions:
1️⃣ Prep the Chicken
Place the chicken breasts between two sheets of plastic wrap or parchment paper and gently pound them with a rolling pin or meat mallet until about 1/2-inch thick. This helps them cook evenly and makes rolling easier!
2️⃣ Layer the Goodness
Lay a slice of ham and a slice of cheese over each flattened chicken breast.
Carefully roll up the chicken, tucking in the sides as you go to keep everything inside. Secure with toothpicks if needed.
3️⃣ Coat & Bread
Set up a breading station:
Bowl 1: Flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper
Bowl 2: Egg and milk, whisked together
Bowl 3: Breadcrumbs
Dip each chicken roll into the flour, then the egg mixture, and finally coat it in the breadcrumbs.
4️⃣ Cook to Crispy Perfection
Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
Add the breaded chicken rolls and cook until golden brown on all sides (about 3-4 minutes per side).
Transfer to a baking sheet and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes until fully cooked (internal temp of 165°F).
5️⃣ Rest & Serve
Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before slicing.
Serve with roasted veggies, a side salad, or mashed potatoes for a complete meal!
